Twenty pence

Fri 02 – Sun 04 April 2027

This course is about the making and use of various small tools that can be very useful for hand spinning. We will create small helpers, some of which will be provided as blanks to be finished during the course. We will try out these tools and discover how they feel in the hand and which techniques they are suitable for, for example, as a plying aid, blending board, niddy noddy, spindle stick, hand spindle, or a small bowl holder for supported spindles. You can also bring along your own small tools that may have been lying around unnoticed amongst your spinning supplies for some time. Together, we will analyse these tools and try to decipher their function. Naturally, spinning itself will not be neglected! We will experience how compact threads and plies are created from individual fibres and deepen our technical skills individually, depending on prior knowledge.
At the end of the course, everyone should go home with a small box full of useful tools and ideas.
