Tablet weaving rediscovered – From woven band to woven object

Would you like to learn the mobile technique of tablet weaving and create artistic ribbons and objects? Then this course is just right for you. We will learn the basics of tablet weaving, weave simple patterns, develop our own pattern repeats, and experiment with materials. Over time, narrow ribbons will transform into larger, artistic woven objects and three-dimensional formats. Tablet weaving is mobile and can be done in different locations, connecting with your surroundings or with others, and weaving outwards from your own body. Incorporating your own body is not absolutely necessary. The focus of the course is on the joy of playing and free experimentation.

9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Course fee:230 Euros, for students 210 Euros (excluding material costs)

Course leader: SELINA GASSER, Switzerland
Born in Switzerland in 1989, lives and works in Basel, studied textile.art.design at the University of Art and Design Linz, Artist-in-Residence in Mexico and Peru, teaching experience and extensive exhibition activity in Haslach, Salzburg, Berlin, Mexico, Ukraine, Basel, Freiburg im Breisgau, among others.
