Colours from nature
Textile printing and dyeing with natural dyes
Fri 02 – Sun 04 April 2027
Flowers, herbs, minerals, shells… nature knows how to create colours without harmful ingredients. In this intensive course, we want to develop a feel for natural dyes and their connection to textiles, and explore various techniques for creating and applying textile printing pastes, as well as learning ways to mix, alter or adjust colours to achieve a wide palette.
A wide variety of techniques and methods will be explored, and a range of tools for applying pastes to fabrics will be available. Furthermore, necessary pre- and post-treatments of textiles for long-lasting bonding with dyes will be covered. In addition to theoretical input and instructions, there will be ample space for hands-on experience and free expression, to create a range of smaller fabric samples or individual larger works.
