Fundamentals of Bookbinding

In this course, we will be dealing with the subject of bookbinding. Theoretical and practical basic knowledge of bookbinding will be imparted. Subsequently, there will be the opportunity to get to know different binding variants and try them out yourself, including
Techniques without the use of glue, such as the simple 3-point thread binding, Coptic binding, and variable thread binding with a slot spine. With glue, a zigzag binding hardcover with cloth, linen or paper covering is performed. At the end of the course, each participant will take home at least two self-bound books.

Requirements: No prior knowledge is necessary

Course times: Fri: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Sat: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM - 6:00 PM,
9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Course fee: 230 Euros, for students 210 Euros (excluding material costs)

Born in Gmünd, Carinthia in 1992, studied at the University of Art and Design Linz, Experimental Design and Cultural Studies, studied abroad in Tallinn/Estonia and Berlin, taught at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and the University of Art and Design Linz in the field of photography, numerous exhibitions and participations, learned the art of bookbinding in Estonia.
