Sun 10 – Sat 14 February 2027

The textile industry generates a considerable amount of production-related waste: selvedges, cutting and punching scraps, rope or hose offcuts, yarn or fibre remnants, reject goods, and much more. At the Textile Centre Haslach, many of these materials from surrounding textile companies were collected and systematised as part of the EU project Symcraft. Over these five days, they will be available as a source of inspiration and a resource for independent work, inviting a deep engagement.
The „Experimentierwerkstatt“ format is not a classic course where specific techniques are taught. Rather, it is a free working and collaborative research environment where all participants independently implement projects and experiment with open-ended outcomes.
The participants draw on their textile expertise and utilise the infrastructure of the Textile Centre Haslach to work in a design-oriented manner or develop artistic projects from the leftover materials provided. Through joint engagement within the group, multifaceted perspectives on the residual materials and their potential emerge. The exhibition „Mist! Rethinking Textile Waste“ (Mist! Textilabfall neu denken), which can be seen concurrently in the special exhibition space of the Textile Centre Haslach, will offer us many inspirations and embed our own work within a larger context.

Group of participants: everyone who fancies exploring textile waste materials as a resource for new ideas and is looking for in-depth, practice-oriented exchange within a group
Requirements: in textiles or related techniques, experience in independent working and developing projects
Number of participants: max. 12 people
Course times: Mon – Sat: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM – 6:00 PM, Sun 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Materials & RightsProduction remnants from the textile industry are provided by the Haslach Textile Centre, but participants can also bring their own leftover materials. Depending on the amount used and the infrastructure utilised, a flat fee of between 30 and 80 Euros will be charged at the end of the experimental workshop.
The results remain the property of the designer. The Textile Centre Haslach reserves the right to document and, if necessary, publish the process and results.
