Cyanotype – a dream in blue
Fri 21 – Sun 23 May 2027
Is light a material? What becomes visible? What remains hidden? Where is it bright, where dark? When sharp, when dim? What reflects, what absorbs? In this course we move from the digital world back to the deceleration of analogue experimentation and explore the subject of light
as a design element to the bottom.
Through working with emulsion and UV light on paper and fabric, light and shadow are transformed into blue tones. This creates a shift in perspective on an abstract or representational depiction of nature, landscape and everyday surroundings. How much should be recognizable, and what is left to the imagination? How precisely and freely do we want to show the things that we
see? Surprise becomes the concept, the imperfect becomes success.
Based on thematic impulses and shared explorations, the course offers time and space for individual artistic and creative engagement, so that everyone will go home with their own small series of works.
