Taster course in weaving
Fri 02 – Sun 04 October 2026
Have you always wanted to know what warp and weft are all about and how a pattern is created in fabric? What types of looms are there, how must a loom be set up, and how do different weaves arise?
In this course, we'll get a taste of the vast world of weaving and explore this ancient craft in more detail. We will work on simple, portable weaving devices to understand the basic principles, as well as try out various looms in the workshop. Different weaves, materials, and structures can be experimented with on patterned looms. Anyone who fancies it can also weave a slightly larger piece on a pre-set-up treadle loom.
