Tulle Embroidery – Transparent Traces from the Archive
Fri 02 – Sun 04 April 2027
This workshop is part of an ongoing series of courses that use the historical collections of the Textile Centre of Haslach as a lively starting point for participants' own textile work.
This time, we will focus on tulle needle lace, a fine, transparent, and easily learned technique, where simple thread movements create lines, rhythms, areas, and ornamental structures. We will examine selected archive patterns, interpret their shapes, repetitions, and design principles, and transfer motifs, fragments, or structural ideas onto tulle. Step by step, we will explore possibilities of density, permeability, and movement. Thus, historical templates become the starting point for a personal textile handwriting between ornamentation and free embroidery.
