From old embroidery techniques to new thread worlds
Mon 20 - Fri 24 July 2026
The archive of the Textile Centre Haslach contains a large number of historical objects made using embroidery techniques that are almost forgotten today and preserve a wealth of hidden knowledge. We will look at selected pieces, analyse their structures and learn the techniques used in them step by step. Based on these historical examples, we will experiment with stitches, colours and materials and transform old methods into new forms of expression. This creates a lively approach to textile knowledge that is otherwise rarely taught.
The course is for anyone who not only wants to do embroidery, but to also understand it - and enjoys transforming tradition into something of their own.
