Fri 12th – Sun 14th March 2027

Gold embroidery is one of the most artistically and technically demanding forms of hand embroidery. This fascinating technique has been used to embroider royal garments and liturgical textiles since the Middle Ages. Gold embroidery is still used today, for example in haute couture, and has lost none of its former splendour.
In addition to the appliqué technique, sewing on gold threads with couching stitches, and embroidery with cannetille, the course will also cover embroidery with pletz/gold thread. Furthermore, there will be instruction on the various possibilities for backing embroidery, whether with felt, cords, or similar materials.
This is a course for anyone who seeks beauty in detail and enjoys focused, meditative work. The aim is that by the end of the course, each participant will have created their own individual small design using the technique of gold embroidery.
