Besides Two, Three is the thing in the world
Open studio and exhibition by Selina Gasser, CH & Karoline Pöhn, AT
Sun, 21 July – Sat, 1 August 2026
Hainberger Workshop
What lies between two things is never empty. Tension arises between threads, a relationship between bodies, meaning between voices. The visible is supported by something that eludes us and yet is effective. The exhibition approached this in-between space. Starting from two artistic positions, the third was understood as a space of resonance – as a connection that comes into being through contact.
Karoline Pöhn and Selina Gasser worked with textile remnants and waste materials as carriers of memory, intimacy and social inscription. Threads became relationships, tears became traces, fragments became clues to the non-visible. In and between the works, the third thing occurred.
During the three weeks, the female artists not only exhibited at the Hainberger workshop, but also used the space as an open studio and invited people to become part of this process. On Thursday, 30 July, the two artists invited visitors to a finissage and participatory workshop starting at 6 pm. In an open, experimental setting, those interested were invited to develop their own textile object using by-products of the textile industry and other materials, to playfully explore the resources together, to intuitively sharpen their perception and to engage in dialogue with one another.
