church tower Haslach

Webbing edges, yarn scraps, fibre fluff, fabric pieces, old clothes, felt remnants, ends of ropes, tubes, straps and much more! What a treasure trove of special materials, striking colours, stimulating shapes and tactile surfaces! What is simply rubbish to many can inspire others!

The exhibition „Twist. Art from Waste!“ showcases free, experimental works across the eight floors of Haslach's church tower, utilising various textile waste materials to formulate unique forms of expression and artistic statements. Whether quilts made from old clothing, tapestries from discarded cuddly toys, garment objects from shredded fabrics, oversized plaits, woven or felted objects – there are no limits to the imagination!

Alongside works by invited artists, the exhibition thrives primarily on contributions from students at the Linz University of Art and other educational institutions, who offer a young, fresh perspective on the theme and make new potentials and meanings visible for resources that often appear to be useless.
