Flax, hemp, nettle & co.
Fri 23rd – Sun 25th October 2026
Bast fibres have accompanied humanity for millennia. The extraction, preparation, splicing, twisting and spinning of flax, nettle or tree bast formed the foundations of early textile production.
This weekend we will be following in the footsteps of these ancient techniques and getting to know the fibre providers and their preparation better. Alongside cultivated flax, we will be processing hemp, ramie and „wild“ representatives of bast fibres, such as the stinging nettle, into string and yarn.
